Vw engineers know what they are doing.
I was young once and used to lower my car, put big wheels on it and cover it in crap stickers.
Made me look like a dick
You'll end up a cop magnet too!
am 19, my warranty is void, but i can afford to customize my car and pay in case it is broke, as i do have a very well payed job, really if anyone cannot afford to live without warranty, why buy a new car, thats how i see it, in my eyes warranty is just a little bonus, a mean what are the chances of a new car braking, blazeguarder wrote:your means and all that, but warranty is the only time that other people are actually going to pay to fix your car for you. Don't waste it, especially since if you are going to void your warranty then you're also going to void your right to any recall work that may suddenly arise. Also, as a 17 year old new driver, you are going to be absolutely crucified by your insurance if you lower it mate.
i dont really know what i am doing ether, thats why i get professorial help and advice, and tbh i havnt done half the things i wanted to do,WatchcamGTI wrote:Plus it'll probably ride like crap.

True on the each to their own thing - that didnt come across right. I do stand by the suspension thing though - I really don't agree that the look is worth the pain of driving on our crap roads. And factoring in the insurance uplift I think its hard to justify.mashmarriner wrote:am 19, my warranty is void, but i can afford to customize my car and pay in case it is broke, as i do have a very well payed job, really if anyone cannot afford to live without warranty, why buy a new car, thats how i see it, in my eyes warranty is just a little bonus, a mean what are the chances of a new car braking, blazeguarder wrote:your means and all that, but warranty is the only time that other people are actually going to pay to fix your car for you. and to get round the insurance just dont say out, what they dont know dont hurt you or your wallet

and looking like a dick is a matter of opinion, ano alot of old men still do the same to they cars, but in a **** way with halford special alloys
plus cops can pull me all they want, nothing illegal with my motor, apart from my German plates which i knew were illegal, but i was just taking a chance, and they are no longer on
the ride is propa s**t, but i dont mind tbh, i enjoy watching my lasses boobies bounce, and air wouldn't give you the challenge of driving a low car over our roads, am young and can handle it, no kids so no need too be sensible lolWatchcamGTI wrote:

These kits are made really for track driven cars - not so tuned for real world driving. If someone out there knows of a kit that gives best of both worlds would be good to mention? (I suspect air being only real viable option)
Back in the day my Mk1 GTIs, Mk 2 GTi, Cosworths etc all ended up falling apart around the rock hard suspension!
Well that's a bit of a stupid attitude to take regarding the warranty imo. What about all the people who bought brand new Polo GTIs and needed to have replacement engines? A warranty is one of the main reasons I get new cars, peace of mind if anything does go wrong. I was going to stick a Milltek turbo back exhaust system on my Polo, but I'm waiting for a free cure to the oil consumption issues first. Could cost me £1000s if I voided my warranty now and then had to pay for new pistons/piston rings or whatever in the future.mashmarriner wrote:am 19, my warranty is void, but i can afford to customize my car and pay in case it is broke, as i do have a very well payed job, really if anyone cannot afford to live without warranty, why buy a new car, thats how i see it, in my eyes warranty is just a little bonus, a mean what are the chances of a new car braking, blazeguarder wrote:your means and all that, but warranty is the only time that other people are actually going to pay to fix your car for you. Totally off the idea of lowering now. I hate big wheels though and stickers too, I'm all for tasteful modsWatchcamGTI wrote:Plus it'll probably ride like crap.

saw a 2011 Merc being loaded onto a recovery van today so i'll stick with my warranty thanksGeorge H wrote:Well that's a bit of a stupid attitude to take regarding the warranty imo. Also, I'm fairly sure if the mods weren't declared and you have a crash, the insurance can and will use it as a reason not to pay out. So, yes, it might not hurt your wallet to begin with, but you better be pretty hopeful you don't crash!
sorry i should of really said thatjamesagordon wrote:Warranty is part specific - lowering it will only void the warranty on your suspension
Yeah I understand thatmashmarriner wrote:well can happen to any car, still you lot havnt seen my point, it was only do this if you can afford it, and afford to fix it if the warranty is gone, ano am taking a chance but in my eyes worth it.
i can understand not wanting to mess with the warranty on GTIs and mercs, but i would only buy them and mess with them, if i could afford to run and fix the car out of warranty
also ano all about insurance companys and how they will not pay out, i had a crash in my old car without mods declared and all i done was spend a night putting the car back to standard before they seen it, these ways around it, where these a will these a way, and if you wanna play it safe then do so ya nar, i was only trying to give another opinion, and how some people do things, and not try and convince people on the rights and wrong way of doing things
and taste is down to the person opinion, like i said, some people think my car looks good and some dont, thats how everything is, i dont like standard looking high cars, but thats my own opinion, some people ano dont even like Polos or in that matter VWs. taste is down to the person,
I didn't know this! Thanksjamesagordon wrote:Warranty is part specific - lowering it will only void the warranty on your suspension
I wrote off a Fiesta I had and didn't get to see it before I made a claim as it was taken away on the back of a truck as I rolled it. It's a risk, I'd be careful with not declaring mods, I doubt it affects the price that much does it? I've never modified a car before so don't really know.mashmarriner wrote: also ano all about insurance companys and how they will not pay out, i had a crash in my old car without mods declared and all i done was spend a night putting the car back to standard before they seen it, these ways around it, where these a will these a way, and if you wanna play it safe then do so ya nar, i was only trying to give another opinion, and how some people do things, and not try and convince people on the rights and wrong way of doing things
my mate wrote off his car with undeclared mods too, the insurance company sent out a van but we towed it away before it got they and we just said we already had it towed lol, and once again spent the night putting the car back to standard hahaGeorge H wrote: I wrote off a Fiesta I had and didn't get to see it before I made a claim as it was taken away on the back of a truck as I rolled it.
