help needed please :(

Post by david burton »

well, my new infinity components arrived from a guy on talkaudio yesterday - and one of the dustcaps is pushed in! no probs I thought, it's just a dust cap...

anyhow, busted my ass off last night fitting all the new speaker wire routing (even drilled the car!), second amp cabling etc etc, then turned em on at half eleven to find that the damaged one sounds like it's hitting something under heavy bass. almost like its rubbing somewhere.

any ideas? where do I stand? I've texted him to say it's damaged.... don't know how much this thing will cost to repair? I was wondering if the dust cap is now catching on something underneath. opinions welcome.

if you want to pull the dust cap out then i have a technique but it is 100% at your own risk
get a cocktail stick and use a tiny drop of superglue to glue the tip to the middle of the dint. pull it out and then twist it to break off the stick from the glue
