Cleaning throttle body on GTI
I fancy giving the throttle body a clean out on my 1.8t Polo GTi, how easy is it and is it just a case of unbolting th TB from the inlet mani?

Done this yesterday, four bolts that hold on the throttle body to the inlet manifold, then unplug sensor. Unclip the hose and detach from car. I layed mine on a scraggy towel and blasted in and out with carb cleaned. Looks lovely and fresh now. plus idles smooth

Should just have to turn the ignition on for a bit and it just does it. You can hear it happening.

Yeah just put ignition on, hop out of your car and listen to the throttle body. It'll make a high pitched noise and an etching sound as the butterfly realigns, once it stops, it'll be ready. Fire up the car and give the revs a quick run through to blast out the carb cleaner. Jobs a good un

I have read a number of times that the opening and closing of the throttle body around turning the car on is not a calibration. Pretty easy with VCDS.
