Gearbox or Clutch

I have a polo 1.4 16v (2000 xreg) first i have had no sign problems up till today.

upon going down the road today my car would not drive just had a whining and grinding noise from gearbox.
After getting it home these are the symptoms i have noticed.

1/ Engaging any gear i am able to start the engine,
2/ Releasing of the clutch a whining noise.
3/ Drive shaft spinning in gear housing.
4/ Able to push car in gear.

I hope this helps you guys identify problem but after reading lots of post seems like a new/recon box is in order "i hope note" Please be Clutch...

If theres no pressure at all on the clutch pedal, its likely to be the clutch.
