Are the headlights slightly tinted or is that just standard?

The headlights are upgraded standard lights. In the UK when you order the car with 19" alloys you also get darkened headlights with gloss black cowling over the lights instead of the standard chrome cowlings. A nice touch that matches with the front grille and wing mirrors. 8)

And today's exploits at the same place have resulted in the following. This was done with the addition of the Evoms intake, an almost empty fuel tank, no spare in the boot and most importantly using launch control and letting the gears change automatically (unlike the first outing where my brain was wired to skip most of first gear manually) and a relatively cool engine. The first outing was only about 20 miles after the map was put on and so now the map has had time for full adaptation too.

To say I'm impressed is an understatement.

So an update for you guys interested in the .:R

I went down to Midland VW today and saw Chris (Topher off Golfgti.co.uk) and had the DSG map (Custom-Code.....rather good map too) and HPA Gen4 Haldex remote race controller fitted. Great day out fiddling about with the car and customising the individual settings in the DSG map was great. Cannot fault the guys at Midland VW at all.

Came back early afternoon to do a little bit of testing with the Racelogic Performance box. The DSG map and Haldex controller have improved things slightly.......

Times done at the same place for consistency......

0-100mph in 10 mph increments....

1/4 mile time....

Best times of the day....

I can't imagine what Stefan's (TEFF's) car will be like, but I'm in a happy place at the moment

Stage 2+ should make quite a bit of difference to the 0-100 time and the 1/4 mile, but I doubt that there will be as much of an improvement on the 0-60time as I think most of the work has already been done for that now.

Wow, didn't realise these were so quick with just fairly basic mods :o

God knows what an RS3 must be like then once remapped etc  8)

Looks awesome Hurdy. James at Custom Code certainly knows his stuff about these maps, just waiting on him for my Polo now. Already got his stage 1 on the ECU. :)

I'd be interested to know how a mapped DSG GTI feels. 8)

Shall keep you informed mate :D No, no details as of yet. The DSG box has tuning protection 10 which all tuners are struggling with. Im sure James will be one of the first to sort it though. 8)

Not APR Australia. 7spd DSG mappin is now available for around $915 AUD. It's a full software program that does some of the following:
1st gear will now change up at a higher rpm to stop engine labour and to help stop clutch slip.
2nd also increased.
D mode is also a bit more spritely.
S is made less manic.
M is proper manual control!
