Window tints

Post by poloboyben »

hi, now im just doing the finishing touches to my car. Ive realised that window tints has to my next modification because it looks cool, I know about the new law but not in much detail. What i want to know is if I can tint all windows (not windscreen) with light smoke tint film as this is the least dark tint film available which i have found. Is this legal?

Thanks

you can't tell if it's legal without a light meter - depends on your current tint too.

I'm guessing if it's a light tint then you may not attract the attention of the cops, but who knows?

you can always remove them if asked, or just do the rear windows?

This came up in the Club house. I think as long as 75% light can pass through the front side windows and and 70% can pass through the back you are in the clear with the police. Mind you you could always wind your windows down when they ask if they can test the amount of light they allow through :D

You might want to look on Pentagon Auto Tint's website, they say that it is now illegal for them or any company to apply ANY window tint to the front side windows since January of this year.
If you already have them you can keep them as long as they transmit 70% of light.
Pi**ed me off as I was looking to have a light tint on my car, should have got it done last year

mate u could just do it yourself, is pretty easy. I believe that the light smoke tint lets 75%of natural light through so that is ok.

but that 75% depends on what's underneath on the glass already if you stick another layer on....
Spot checks will be carried out on cars to see if they comply with legal regulations stating that the front screen must let in 75% of light, while the side must let in 70%.
