Clutch Recall on GTi's ?

Post by Tony B »

Hello all, "BlackGTi" has posted a note in the announcment forum re a clutch related recall on all gtis. He also refers to ongoing problems?.....
I've only just got my Gti but i do find the Clutch mega stiff - is this what he's going on about? Also he has no replies, so has anyone else heard about this recall - e.g. exactly what, and what year polos are involved?

Hi mate, and welcome :D

Have a look at the Polo GTi bit of the forum, specifically the sticky at the top of the page and the thread titled "letter from VW".

i am a volkswagen mechanic at a main deeler the recall you talk about is a pedal box in the past week i have done about 3
the fault is the pedal box has not been seam welded but only been spot welded after time the spot welds breake causing very poor clutch operation or no clutch at all
all we do is replace the pedal box with a modified unit

the recal goes on the chassis number if you can give some time and your chassis number i will be able to find out if yours is within the chassis number but first of all check under your carpet in the boot for a recall sticker if there is one i need the number
