Josh 6r Polo GTI Pearl Black

Post by JCT 1991 »

Picked this up about six weeks ago as a new user thought i would start a thread.
Image
Started to fit some bits and bobs on to personalise the car started with changing the Grill GTI badge to a red one
Image
planning on changing the rear GTI badge from chrome to red as well got the badge but haven't got round to taking the old one off as of yet.

Got my Private registration transferred over think that the carbon domed effect look good and im contemplating using some of the carbon fibre wrapping techniques ive seen used on the forum like on the badge and the fog covers

so this is where we are at the moment.

Had a bit of a disruptive week and have discovered that potholes do not mix very well with 17'' monzas alloys. both front and rear right tyres burst and the alloys buckled and twisted. Will post pictures once new set are on.

This was a major pain as after making some enquires to VW dealers it seems that they are charging 400 + VAT for a single 17" Monza without a tyre. So this sort forced me to choose a new set of alloys and I've gone for the Motorsport GTR black 24
Image

getting these delivered and fitted tomorrow i was going to upgrade tyres to some Uniroyal Rainsport 2 but after weighing up the costs buying new alloys unexpectedly blew my budget this month so im going to use the not wrote off alloys tyres (dunlop sport maxx) and just buy the same tyres again for the remaining two alloys.

Welome matey. Sorry to hear you've had such bad luck with the wheels / potholes. Very common around my area also :( However, im sure the motorsports will look 100% better, and will make it more distinctive.

Look forward to seeing your progress mate. :D

The wheels seem to be about 2-3 kg lighter than the monzas so a similar differance to the team dynamic 1.2's i think they go well with the paintwork ill post some pictures over the weekend when the weather clears up and i grt chance to clean it up ! Got a new stainless gti footrest cover. Ive also just had an ITG maxogen induction kit fitted out of the 2.0 tsi.

It was really quick to put my new foot rest in and i think its a cheap and easy way of making the interior look a bit sportier keeping to the GTI mentality !
The foot rest is held in by a 10mm plastic nut on the top of the rest and just unclips when the nut is removed.

Once i did this the kit i bought off ebay had the footrest plate and some washers countersunk set screws with nuts.
I lined up the holes and drilled 3 6.5mm holes the screws fitted straight in an i tightened it up.

So for the sake of 20 mins work i think its an easy little mod i think the plate was around 12
Pound off ebay which seems alot for what it is but with it being stainless it should las the test of time !

Got some eibach springs that are like new same as these

http://www.dcperformance.co.uk/cheap/42 ... 02-22.html

only selling as my parents have upgraded to a gti and are happy with the ride height, we have a set fitted to ours and they are perfect, just think it'll take up some of the arch gap the rear is a 30mm drop and the front 25mm makes them sit well

Just came accross this site on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3D-UK-LEGAL-C ... 18#vi-desc they mention that they have to have this if it is to be road legal:

REQUIREMENTS: As standard, we will print our postcode at the bottom centre of the plate (approx font size 10), and the British Standards Number at the bottom right side of the plate (unless you specifically request these two pieces of text to be removed). If you request for a plate which is mis-spaced or if you request a slogan, our postcode will not be printed on your plate, and the British Standards Number may also be removed. In this case your number plates will not be road legal, and are classed as 'show plates'.

Is this correct and if so does that make josh's plate non legal? I just want to make sure before i get mine done.
