Unable to put into 1st/2nd Gear Intermittently

Chaps,

I'm intermittently unable to put my Polo into 1st/2nd gear, this problem started today when I got in my car after work. After driving 65 miles home with only being able to select gears 3+ it leaves me in a funny situation. I have a 1.2 TSI SEL with a 6 speed manual box, anyone have any ideas what this could be caused by?

Funny you should say that, as i sometimes have trouble getting it in 1st! mine is a 5speed manual. Maybe the gearchange cables need adjusting if they can be adjusted?

i have trouble getting in reverse and ive just not long had it!!

Thanks chaps. So what's the resolution? I can't continue driving my car as pulling out at roundabouts whilst flooring it in 3rd gear is far from ideal. I'm going to give my dealer a ring this morning and hope they can sort it out and provide me with a courtesy car in the mean time!

Will do mate. Car's currently been in the VW garage for 3 days and i've not had any information back yet!

I have a problem getting in to first and reverse sometimes, been in to VW 3 times and they said it hasn't faulted while they been test driving it, they said if I get it to fault take a video of it but try doi g that with a load of traffic behind you ain't t the best of ideas
