mine is due now so considering doing it myself....how hard is it and are any special tools required?

Did mine last week, one of the easiest cam belts I've changed. Took me 2 hours and I was taking my time the cambelt tensioner is self tightening so that makes it even easier. If your mechanically minded I should be easy for you.

Excellent. What kit did you use? Any special tools needed?

Gates belt and tensioner kit and a water pump all you need is basic tools socket set trolley jacks , no pins needed as timing marks are on the block and pulleys really not that bad to do
