Fitting aftermarket stereo. Remove key to turn off.

I have seen so many of you asking how to do this so when you pull the key out the stereo turns off like the factory unit.

I don't have any pictures but you do not need to run extra wires from your cigarette lighter or from anywhere else.

When connecting your ISO connector you usually work with the following

Red - permanent live
Yellow - Key switch

However when the ISO lead is connected up both the red and yellow are permanent live.

On the original connector there is a Black & Red wire. This is your key switch that when the key is pulled out of the ignition live current stops.

If you trace this through your new adapter it usually runs to a Blue & White wire which is where you should tap your yellow wire to.

All of the above is my own working out and can't confirm all ISO connectors run the same colour scheme so please trace the Black & Red wire through your connector to be certain and always confirm with an electrical tester.

If anyone wants to post up a pic of the stereo harness clearing showing all the wires I will circle the Black & Red wire you need to trace through the new connector.

Mine is done like the above and i did my mates on on Saturday too.

Remove key, stereo off, no dead battery.

welllllll i started this morning...hit one problem....radio wont power on at all now! haha, even when ive put it back to how i had it sooooooo i have pictures of me doing the process and i know it works because i have my amp wired into the main power so now when i turn it all on, i get power to the amp and when i remove the key it goes off, just gotta solve the mystery of why my radio wont work! haha. if you have any ideas gimme a shout

Have you checked fuses? , (basically my only suggestion as right now i can think of nothing else!)

false alarm! have fixed, feel a doofus as it was a fuse! didnt check them enough so i will sort some pictures out tonight! or tomorrow morning so i can get some better ones

So far my car has no burst into flames

in the pic with the wires just wrapped together was just a tester to make sure i had got it right, all wires now have beautiful bullet connectors which out of excitement i forget to take pictures of! but you get the idea from the pictures!

The problem I found with this was if you join the blue to yellow it works for the key pull out but looses the memory, so i left the yellow to the yellow and put red to blue and blue to red Nd now it turns off with te key but keeps the memory. Anyone else have that memory problem?

I didn't get the problem but at least now if people are having the same problem its worked out. I've found some other pictures on my phone so I will add them in later
