6R headlight removal?

Post by 222GTI »

 Hi Fellow Dubbers,

I'm a new member to this forum, have been a stalker of it for long though lol!
I have a 6R GTI and was wondering, have any of you removed the headlights? And how did you go about it?
I read on another forum that all it is, is some screws on top and then a bit of a push backwards and then a tug out. Not sure about this, so rather find out the correct way before I break something unnecessarily yeah.

Your feedback is much appreciated.
Awesome forum btw

Hi,

I have removed mine, and yes it is just the screws at the top, unplug and pull out. No need to remove grille or bumper etc.

Yes i changed my bulbs as well, its very easy to do, take of the 6 screws, and the lights will come out, when working at the lights, i recomend you put a clothe between the lights casing and the car, to stop scraping etc. But this is an easy job to do, and looks well.

Only remove the two screws though, not all of them. You want to leave the bracket in place otherwise you'll throw your headlight alignment out of place. Youll notice that theres a little plastic wedge looking thing that your headlight pushed up against to set it correctly.
