VW Polo key question - programming

Post by LawShe »

VW Polo 9n3 Gti got broken into at the weekend and needs a new ignition barrel. VW want £125.00 for this or £135.00 with new keys. I can get an ignition barrel for around £45 from eBay which includes a new set of keys but I was wondering...

1. How will I get the keys programmed to the ECU so that they started the car/ opened it remotely?

2. I was going to delock the drivers side but what about the boot lock, how would I make the keys open this manually, can you get bootlocks made to match keys?

Any ideas would be brilliant as I'm trying to save getting shafted by the dealer.

Do you know if all keys of the same model are the same in cuttings but just with different programmes? If this is the case then I should be able to buy an ignition barrel off a car that has been broken and have all the keys programmed to my car and it should still fit the boot lock to open it manually, if you see where I'm coming from?

Every VW has a unique key

The new style keys are cut digitally so no two are the same.
