6n2 water leak need help!

Post by ElliottJones1 »

My 1.4 8v is leaking water through the bottom of the drivers side dashboard. The water is leaking from just below the fuse box and by the electrics under the steering wheel. Leaves puddles in the driver side footwell
Any help ?

Check the drain hole in the scuttle panel under the wipers isn't blocked

this x2, hole is at each side, your wire goes through it to the wing indicators so easy to trap leaves and s**t blocking them.

6n2 water leak need help!

Sorry to hijack your thread but any other advice on this? Mines coming in the door, scuttle drains all done, I've ripped the door apart cleared it all out made my own plastic membrane to try and keep it out and it's still coming in by the bonnet release, any ideas last resort is door rubber but I don't want to replace with second hand one really for fear of same problem and new is £105 :|

Where is the water coming through - on the door seals, or from above?

The bonnet cable has its own seal. Best check its not perished.

It just seems to be dripping in from the door. It's hard to see where it's coming from though because there's no real trail just ends up at the bottom. :( I will definitely check the bonnet release cable seal though. It's hard to understand how te waters kept out with no membranes in the door at all.

There should be a membrane in the door already. A thick foam one - if that wasnt there, someones been playing with your doors!

Ah okay that's what counts as the membrane that's all there and intact and have fabricated a second one behind it. Can only put it down to the door rubber then. Phones up vw and oh my the price of one! Jeez.

Where exactly is the Bonnet release cable seal? Just as I'm having leak problems and haven't yet looked there...
