Gas struts to lift the bonnet...

Post by jimbo_tdi »

One thing that I've always missed from my 9N was the gas struts in the bonnet, gave it a sense of class! Is there any way of adding this feature to the 6R? :D

I wouldn't mind that feature. But would be worried about the weight increase. lol

lol I think I agree with you about the spare tyre! ;) I've looked around and you can't just put one strut on like the 9N had or one side of the bonnet will start to lift over time, so two need to be fitted at each side... Found a thread on here about it too!

Looks doable! :D

I wonder what struts he used? I will have a look at a golf as they have gas struts for the bonnet.

Yeah that's a good point and I'm sure that there is just the one strut on the Golf and it's positioned vertically rather than horizontally if that makes any sense, the only real problem that I have read is that the bonnet can star to lift over time which is a little worrying! :(

The Audi A1 has them, maybe the same part would fit given they use the same chassis

Should in theory, might have to pop to the Audi dealers soon
