Hi there, any news about the pipe change?

By my side, I'm close to 2.000Km after the replacement, oil consumption is about halved: before it was about 1 liter every 10.000Km, now will probably be half (1mm on the dipstick in about 2.000Km)...

Furthermore, the big intake pipe, where the new breather one fits, is still perfectly dry (before was always oil-wet).

Okay so the breather pipe was fitted at 23,000 miles, a litre of oil was added at 25,000 miles and another litre at 27,000 miles.

Seems the car is now using around a litre of oil every 2000 miles. VW want the car back in for further tests for 1 day and then back on for a 1000 mile test.

Interesting to see the Fabia vRS is now starting to arrive with the revised CTHE 1.4 Twincharger. Would assume new GTI's will arriving with the uprated engine also.

Mine is not so positive, I have done 500 miles since the breather pipe has changed and the dipstick is showing halfway down the hatching marks. I estimate I am still using about 1 litre per 800/900 miles.

Taking car back soon for it to be measured off and decision made on what to do next.

Yeah - I am disappointed but then again, mine is early spec (2010) with CAVE241 spec.

I will push for new engine.

Looked at dipstick again today, oil is now only covering about 20% of the hatching area and have done just over 520 miles!

On that basis, I reckon consumption has gone up to about 1L/600 miles :o

We had a couple of cases like your in Italy: the guy of the link below increased his consumption from 1 liter ever 2.500Km to 1 liter every 1.000Km after pipe changing with his Ibiza....
Can't understand why... :?:

For sure the pipe seems to be able to decrease little oil consumptions, like in my case, but I think that when an engine run too much with high oil consumption it becomes compromised and the only solution is an engine replacement...

Your right Kawabanga. I will push for the new engine now, consumption on mine has increased since the breather pipe change.

Mine burned through 1 litre in 600 miles (post breather pipe upgrade), dealer has accepted there is a problem. Currently going through warranty to replace at least the lower block of the engine (not the whole thing). Think yours needs the same Stu.
