Wet Floor: Rear Passenger Side, 6n2 GTI - 3-Door

Post by brosh »

Hi,

I have a 3-door 6n2 GTI and my floor carpet behind the passenger is soaking wet.
I cleaned the drains under the windscreen (by the wipers) and it didn't help.

Am I missing a rear drain somewhere?
Also I'm missing the rubber around the antenna, could that be it?

PS
The door and wall seem to be dry so it doesn't appear to be from the door.

I had this, it turned out there was a join in the pipe for the rear wash/wipe. It had come apart behind the rear near side panel so I had to get the panel off and rejoin the pipe up. Problem solved.

Thank you for your reply.

Can you explain a little better where the pipe that came apart is located? I didn't get it.

Thanks.

Its located behind the trim panel that runs along side the passenger rear seat.

Ahhh so basically where the back door would be located if it were a 5-door right?

Same place on a 5 door - theres a plastic trim along side the seat. Youll see what i mean when you open the door. Its close to the door seal.

Ok so I looked and there is nothing that looks like it transports water - only electric wires.
Also I have noticed that the front floor is damp but not soaked like the back.

PS
It's a left hand side car - my steering wheel is on the left side and not the right side like the British - does that change anything?
To make sure I dont confuse you - the water is on the left side of the car where my steering wheel is.
I only said passenger side earlier because it's a English forum.

Thanks guys.

I doubt the pipe has moved been a left hand drive car. The pipe is black not clear so may not be obvious at first glance. Mine followed the profile of the rear wheel arch. Whilst the panel is off, use your rear washer, you won't miss water spraying out!!

Good idea, I'll try that.
I'm pretty sure it's not it though cause I would smell the special liquid in the car.

The front floor was wet, behind the pedals, I got under the rug but couldn't find anything.
