Cambelt

Hi my Gti has gone in for its cambelt today turns out it was a close call as the hydraulic damper was leaking and rattling when at idle.
Has anyone else had this problem, ive had a few cars with variants of the 1.8 20v T engine and had the cambelt done and never come across this before? £90

Mine wasn't leaking but it was making some pretty strange noises

Mine too, sounded like a squeeky belt and a mixture of rattles deffo a close call if it would have been left any longer
