Tis a great little function to have

The Eddy has it and I felt it was lacking in the Polo

Auto Dimming mirror/rain sensor has come now, so just been drawing up the wiring schematics to get it wired in and making the parts list up! 8)

Ordered all the bits for wiring up the mirror and rain sensor today....the amount VW repair wires cost these days is just unbelievable but I guess thats the price you pay for retrofitting!

I guess the auto dimming mirror and rain sensor are separate optional extras and not linked etc? Only reason I ask is because mine has the auto-dimming mirror, but as far as I know, not the rain sensor, unless something is not working with it! Do you know of any cars that have the rain sensor?

If you have the mirror, you'll have the rain sensor. They come together as one extra option

Activate the rain sensor by switching the wiper stalk to intermittent ie down one notch

Cool! :D Had the car 7 months and only just found that out! Only found I had the auto-dimming mirror after I'd had it a month and a half!

Haha :)

Try it and check it works

Another way to tell is take a picture of the mirror base from outside the car and post it up

You'll also have a relay marked 427 in the relay bank

The mirror has a bar from the top of it to the top of the windscreen (rather than just stuck on the windscreen) and at the bottom of it has like a little sensor. The mirror itself seems to be a gold tint too. Will take a pic shortly!

Tried the wiper on the intermittent setting today and it wasn't raining and didn't come on-so I guess that it's working! Is the windscreen or wiper stalk any different at all?

Oh, by the way, how to do you get the interior lights to work if you're sitting in the car with key in the ignition? When I press either side of it, it doesn't come on-only comes on when I take the key out of the ignition or open a door.

Same wiper stalk

Just leave it in the down 1 position and it manages itself

It should work flicking it to the left, though if that doesn't work you probably have a blown fuse.

Wiring for the mirror and sensor is now done to OE spec

New windscreen coming in the next couple of weeks :D

Looks like a new clutch is on the way as the release bearing is getting very stiff :(
