looking to buy a gti style grill for my 1.0 6n2 but being put off by the gti badges at the top right of the grill, can they be simply unclipped and removed or are they there to stay? And if anyone is interested in selling a grill let me know ! cheers

6n2 grills/ ofset gti/tdi badges
Hi guys wondering if anyone could shed some light on my honeycomb grill endeavours,
looking to buy a gti style grill for my 1.0 6n2 but being put off by the gti badges at the top right of the grill, can they be simply unclipped and removed or are they there to stay? And if anyone is interested in selling a grill let me know ! cheers

The GTI grille doesnt come fitted with the badge in any case, but yes it can be unclipped if its fitted.
Re: 6n2 grills/ ofset gti/tdi badges
Will 16V badges fit as I am thinking of buying a GTi grille too
. The reason I ask this question is because I haven't seen one on a GTi grille yet. Also; this may sound like a stupid question but does the grille come with the VW badge
.

Grille does come with a VW badge
I honestly dont know if a 16V badge fits a GTI grille...I think I have a spare 16V badge at home somewhere so can take a look, but im pretty sure they mount differently
That said, nothing is impossible and there are ways to make it work
Personally, i would just drop the 16V off the front grille - looks cleaner in any case! Plus being a 1.0, its only an 8V so a 16V badge is untrue lol

Mines a 1.4 and the standard grille has the 16V badge on as I own a 100bhp modelalexperkins wrote:Personally, i would just drop the 16V off the front grille - looks cleaner in any case! Plus being a 1.0, its only an 8V so a 16V badge is untrue lol

Oops... I read it as though you were the first poster haha!
There would be nothing to stop you peeling the GTI off and sticking 16V on if it didnt work

Just out of interest are the 100bhp models rare as Iv'e heard they are. Anyway I have done a quick (rubbish) Photoshop to give you an idea of what it might look like.alexperkins wrote:Oops... I read it as though you were the first poster haha!

(The picture isn't of my Polo as it's too dark to take a picture at the moment so imagine it without a GTi splitter. It's the closest I could find too mine

Speaking of grills; how easy is it to take out the middle grill at the bottom and replace it with a honeycomb

Depends. It's easiest with the bumper off so you can lever the clips open with a screwdriver
Otherwise it's a case of levering it out
