I have seen a few pictures now of the golf MkV GTI wheel (flat bottom, better grip) on the 9n3 and its something I really fancy doing. Is it a straight swap out? or do I need to mod anything?
Also, is it possible to retro fit steering wheel controls for the stereo? I haven't seen pictures of any but I have gotten so used to them now it would just be handy.
MkV GTI wheel on the 9n3?

The wheel is a straight fit; the airbag also if you now have a "triangle" shape airbag (3 spoke wheel)!
If you have a 4 spoke wheel, there the airbag is "oval" and also has a different connector and horn mechanism so you just have to play around with the wiring and you're ok!

Nice, will have to keep a look out for a wheel then!
Anyone know about the stereo controls?

The RCD200 doesn't support steering wheel controls, so they can't be retrofitted unfortunately. Still, the Golf wheel without the controls is a bit cheaper... also, the wheel from the Edition 30 has red stitching to match the GTi but those are pretty rare...

What about if I put in an after market system like I plan on doing, will the steering controls work then?

Re: MkV GTI wheel on the 9n3?
The problem is that the aftermarket adapters for the steering wheel controls basically just plug into the OEM loom and decode the signals from the steering wheel controls to allow them to control the head unit. As this wiring isn't actually present in the Polo, this solution doesn't work.
I'd have thought that it would be impossible, or at the least very difficult, to retrofit...
