Help I New :-)

Post by TarnLad »

Well good Afternoon Guys!

I'm new to the community and first off i wanted to say Hello :-)

Ok I wondered if anyone could shine a light on possible upgrades to my Polo within my bugdet.

I own a (2000) VW Classic 1.6 (100PS) Saloon ... and I have a budget of £2500 (roughly) to tune up the 1.6 engine.

Im looking to achieve around a 25 - 50 increase in horse power without having to do a Conversion/Transplant as i dont have the time nor the money.

I have someone that can undertake the work So... were do i start? what would you recommend?

This is for the engine/exhaust only please

Thanks Guys :-)

Welcome

Being a NA engine, the gains arent going to be massive

Your options would be along the lines of air filter, 4-2-1 stainless exhaust manifold and system to match, remap, race cams, decat. Even then youll only gain about 20hp tops.

To be fair, you wont get much if its the petrol variant sadly.

Realy only 20HP? .... what about forced induction, hads this been done with the 1.6 8V polo engine do you know?

a friend of mine did it with his 1.0L polo and to be honest the improvemets in acceleration were very noticable.. and it only cost about £90.00.. not sure if anyone here has done this with their 1.4/1.6?

what about adding a small turbo? or supercharge it... are these options too costly/ out of the question.

Cheers

Personally, what you will spend will make little difference

For some gain fit an induction kit such as a BMC CDA or a k&n typhoon etc

If it were me, i'd drop a 2.0 16v in it, from an ibiza cupra if it's an early car, or a 1.8t if its a later car.
