The headlight washers only "go" if you have your lights on, otherwise they do nothing. They will work with your normal windscreen washers if held on for a few seconds, like that other guy says there is a time delay between doing the headlights and them going again if you try.
The traction control thing could be the steering angle sensor, it happened to me when I fitted my cruise control. The slip ring that supplys power to your steering wheel functions whilst its turning was rotated with the wheel off. Throws up a steering wheel angle sensor error and stops the traction control from working.
Very easy to see if you have access to VagCom, as it will show you the current angle of the steering wheel, obviously going forward with wheels straight should be 0 degrees, mine was -369 degrees becasue I rotated the slip ring with the steering wheel off. All you do is spin it back with the wheel off, then put your steering wheel back on. 5 minute job, disconnect your battery if you do this though, better safe than sorry (dont want your airbag going off when you disconnect it).
It may be something else mind you, it just sprung to mind when you said your traction control didnt work

They have sorted most of the problems said the traction control was an ABS sensor.
Is VagCom something I should invest in/acquire? I have an OBD2 cable and some software I used for the civic to read faults and transfer my remap on and off come service time/when needed. So could use this with the VagCom software?
They are still investigating the whining noise that happens in first gear so should hear about that tomorrow.
He also said there was a "problem with charging" which they will have to fix before they release it to me too ... now im worried that the previous owner rallied it around and let it get in that condition, what else is wrong and hiding!

Id be more worried they tried to sell it to you with the faults apparent. Seems like your getting a bad deal to me.

Nah, they seem genuine enough.
He told me about the faults he knew about before the test drive and when it went into the garage they found more and told me about it, they could of just given me it and hoped I didn't find out for 2 months.
Latest update is that they have ordered an alternator for the charging issue and are still looking into the gearbox whine, I will get an update next week when they know more.

charging issue is more likely load sensor wire broken. if it genuinely wasnt charging youd know about it.

I am just leaving them to it, as long as its all fixed for me picking it up then I don't mind what all they find ... better they find it now than I find it in 3 months time when the warranty is up

Probably just needs a new battery as it's coming to the age when the original one will let go - especially as the weather has taken a cold snap.
