No Right handside Indicators! HELP! :'(

Post by 222GTI »

Hey Guys,

I have a 6R GTI and recently I've been Getting a warning light on the dash to tell me that a globe is blown. Checked all the lights, all was fine. Couple of days later its back. Same story aswell but a week ago, I encountered a pretty crap extremely bumpy and gravel road and the next day, I had no Right indicators at all. I checked the fuses, checked all 3 of the globes and they're all fine.

Does anyone have a cooking clue what it could be as the arrows on the dash dO flash when the right indicator is selected, but flashes quickly to say there's a fault.

Thanks for any info members :)

Do they work with the 4-ways or is it just when you put the indicator on?

Dude, relax. Did your snowman get knocked over or something? This is hardly the world's most active forum. He probably hasn't had a chance to update this.

Loose earth is a good shout, but the rear lights have a different earth to the front so it's unlikely to be the cause. Switch is clearly working so probably a relay issue or something similar. As said, check if it works with the hazards.

Failing that, seeing as it's so new I'd be inclined to just get it sorted under warranty. Tendency with electrical issues is to spend far too much time and money swapping bits and tracing faults and there's no point thinking about it if you don't have to IMO...

Here in the netherlands we encountered the same problem with a member of our dutch forum. All bulbs worked fine, dealership couldn't find the problem all that trouble.
Eventually he replaced all the indicator bulbs on the faulty side and that solved it for him ;)
Might be worth a try for you.

I'm having exactly the same problem on my 2011 1.2tsi, it did it last summer and its done it twice in the last week. Today I indicated to turn right and the bulb warning light came on the dash display, I could also hear the audible indicator clicking noise in the dash double in speed, the sort of sound you normally get when a bulb has blown, but strangely when I got out and checked all the indicators were working as normal despite the fast 'ticking' continuing. After stopping and restarting the car it tends to go away. Must be a poor contact somewhere, maybe aggravated by the cold wet weather.
