Yeah, I had a quick look with vagcom yesterday and had the same problem as you. Just tried googling how it's done on Golfs and apparently they need to use version 704.1 to be able to change the option, as it's been removed from the current version.

I'm not particularly handy with vagcom yet since I only got it a couple of days ago, anyone else got any ideas where it might be?

if it is a coding problem (no conclusions drawn as yet), VAGCOM won't do squat. You need a hex editor (VDS-Pro) to do it. It's the same with the remote windows.

Not on the 9n3 and some of the later 9ns. Only on 9ns built before 11/04.

hello,

ok have been trying to find the right struts to no avail....does any one know which ones work?

I dont care aout the vag-com as i have a clifford alarm that opens the boot for me...all the way i just need the right strut to push the tail gate up.

cheers

hello again,

OK.....Found it......the struts you need are the ones from a

ford mondeo mk2 93-00
dimension
553 overall length
drop length 200
rod diameter 8m
shock diameter 19
force is 560 newton

now compare those with the original polo struts

polo 9n3(like mine)
dimension
500 overall length(not a problem as the length only opens as far as you need)
drop length 200
rod diameter 8m
shock diameter 19mm
force 400 newton

the ball joints on both are the same as the polo too...so it should be a straight swap.

let me know what you all think..now dont go buying these and stick em on your car....let me do it first and ill let you all know the outcome.

For all those who have an original vw boot open button on there key fob...you will need to sort the system out with a vag-com.

but if you have an aftermarket alarm (like mine...Clifford)the all you need is the struts above...
