Just bought a replacement K&N filter Part No. E-2997 1.2tsi

Post by JayW »

Has anyone used one of these for their 1.2 tsi engine? I was surprised when reading through the tutorial manual that the standard airfilter is actually cone shaped! Was expecting a panel filter...

I know this won't make any performance gain for a small engine, wanting more noise than anything to be honest. So does this actually give any extra grunt to the sound of the engine?

I have a K&N panel filter on my 1.2 (60) and mine is a flat triangular shape.
Hasnt really made a great difference in either sound or performance.

Im guessing the non tsi range has a panel filter then.

its hard to say with performance as i fitted it virtually straight away.
Noise wise it does hiss a little when accelerating and has a little more roar but not as much as the 57i i have on my Grande Punto.

I'm sorry to disapoint you with the dream of better performance... But you gain nothing with a K&N filter on a stock car...

Fitted it today and it sounds slightly different. Get a nice hissing sound and a better roar... but its all over clouded by the noise of my dump valve lol
