Rear wash/wipe not working...

Post by .Ben. »

Hi guys,

Any ideas on where the potential weak spots in the system are?

My tailgate is dry inside, as is the engine bay...

Does the wiper work but no water?
Check passenger footwell. That's where mine leaks. The cable runs behind the dash somewhere and rubs and splits, and you can't get to it easily unless -
1 take the dash out
2 hav small hands to get up to the pipe and rub silicone it up

Unless of course it lens work at all making my post unhelpful.

Thanks for the reply.

Wiper works. Pump works. No water from the jet though?

I've been doing some reading & it seems there are multiple joints throughout the system, any or all of which could be leaking...

Awesome.

My problem was here...

The best way to locate is to get someone to operate the pump while you're looking for the drips and trace them back...

Ok, found it!

Back right-hand corner of the engine bay, under the ABS pump.

The crappy connector has popped apart and has now been replaced with a Hozelok garden irrigation connector from B&Q (£3.99!). Stubborn-ness (and short, stiff hoses) has given me bloodied knuckles but a working washer and squeaky, juddery rear wiper. Time for a wipe down with glass cleaner and a replacement wiper...
