Retrofitting Cruise Control VW Polo 6R

Post by JIC Cracked »

Hi been planning on getting cruise control fitted on my car for while now, as do quite a bit of motorway driving.

Does anyone know how to retrofit or know of any write up's of how to fit cruise control on the new Polo 6R?

Have already brought a kit from Kufatec UK, but does not come with instruction manuals

Some companies are charging near £400.00 inc parts, to fit the cruise control where it only cost near £100.00 for the parts? :?
In some cases the control unit for onboard electric needs to be replaced! depending on the spec of the car, so I was informed that base spec cars would have to change the onboard electric unit.

VW UK say that can't offer to retrofit cruise control at the present time, will be doing in the near future.
If all fails I might drive to germany, to get a dealer/company over there to fit it, as most retrofit companies are charging way over the odds.

If I was you mate, i'd try another dealership. Some of the dealerships where I live can be quite funny when it comes to retrofitting something even as small as a bootlid badge. Others are more lenient, give a different dealer a ring and see what they say. Just say your car wasn't a factory order and the salesman mentioned you can retrofit Cruise Control at a later date :)

I've been looking at having cruise fitted as well but was told the same thing by VW in Lincoln. He did say they had withdrawn the cruise retrofit due to an issue with the system but did say it would be available again soon. Once it's back available they expected the cost including fitting to be around £200.

Failing that you can try this place: http://www.vwcruise.com/204.html

Well it's been a while since anyone has replied to this post....so i thought I ask here instead of starting another thread.

Anyone done a CCS retrofit to a 6R themselves ?
Any tips & guides ?

Seen this http://www.electritech.co.uk/store/Retr ... n/Polo-6R/
Looks like kufatec kit there's no response from the seller regarding instructions.
For that matter, kufatec do not respond either :?

I have seen the german written instructions for a 9N but I am sure that guide will not work on 6R.

So how easy is it ?

I have retrofitted to a Polo 6R 1.2TSI R-line 2013MY

It came to £130 for the parts (stalks and looms)
It took several hours to do and was a real PITA

Golf mk5 = 30 mins
Polo 6R = 5 hours although I did fit the Mfsw at the same time

the fact that there is no room behind the BCM to solder wires and that the ECU was in a Tamper proof cage with bolts that had to be cut off
wipers had to be removed, scuttle trim, wiper motors, air box

Hmmm.. does sound quite involved.
Thx for the overview Eddie.

Sorry did not mean to spam you on the other (for sale) thread.
The stalk-to-BCM wiring I can handle (after a crash diet for a few days  ).
You say there's one wire that has to go from the BCM (through the bulk head) to the ECU.
Does that wire go via another connector or straight tot he ECU ?

Do you have the pin numbers on the stalk, BCK & the ECU where the wires go ?
Where did you buy the kit from ?

the wire was feed through a rubber grommet on the bulkhead. when it reaches the ECU you then need to crimp a terminal on the end of the wire.

The ECU and plugs are in a cage which needs to be removed so you can unplug the plug where the wire goes.
Once you gain access you have to prise the internal part of the plug out to fit the wire

what year is your 6r

I read that a forum member modded9n used to offer the service near me for 9N's but seems to be off-line and off-air.
