im currently scouring the market for a 6R for myself. and just wanting to know the differences between the model types other than the engine size?
obviously the gti has major styling differences to the other models but am i right in thinking every other model of the 6R is the same styling wise? other than some having foglights, im struggling to find any other differences.
for example... to look at... is a 1.2 S the same as a 1.4 SE ? other than whats under the bonnet im struggling to tell them apart. apart from maybe alloy wheels.

Wow. That's a lot of info thanks!
Kind of a lot to take in and is a bit confusing.
But basically, does everything that isn't a GTI or R model have the same bodywork? Does a 1.2 look Identical to a 1.4 or 1.6 apart from maybe the fog lights and wheels and obviously what's under the bonnet.
The S and Bluemotion have the 'Trendline' cabin, with cheapo door trims, no split rear seat, a single dome light rather than individual reading lights, and have the single bulb headlamps. The S also has a basic black grille, with no chrome strips in it.
The SE, Match, Moda, and SEL all have a nicer cabin, with a chrome strip in the grille between the VW logo and the headlamps. The SEL also gains a strip around the centre air vent below the number plate. Apart from the SE they also all have front fog lights. They are based off the continental 'Comfortline' spec.
Since mid 2012 all cars have had the RCD310 radio with an aux-in and DAB. Before then, the S had the RCD210 with no aux (and no rear speakers?). The Match, Moda, and SEL also all have the MDI connector in the glove box too, which has been an option on the others.
The R-Line, GTI, and BlueGT have all had the nice cabins, bodykits, and the RCD310 with MDI.
Regarding which car you go for, it all depends on what your budget is, what your preferences are, and how many miles you'll be doing.
Edit: and also the S and R-Line Style lack remote locking and electric mirrors, which are standard on everything else.
