6N / 96 Central locking dead - what to check?

Post by goldnet »

Hi all

Searched forum but not found answer so hope someone can help.

96 Polo 6N with central locking (and FoxGuard alarm looped in). Locking stopped working last week. Keys and door buttons work fine.

Trying to refuel I snapped connector off filler cap solenoid but have replaced that with a used spare (the old one had a split on connector so may have been original cause of a leak).

Pump had corroded voltage regulator connection so have replaced that too.

Snapped new parts in expecting all to be well - still nothing. No sound from pump.

Fuse must be OK because clock/interior lights working.

Disconnected battery (+ve) for 15 mins to reset.

Read somewhere pump might need priming. Have locked/unlocked numerous times with the keys to no effect.

Is there any kind of 'reset' procedure to rearm the pump? Could the alarm (which works OK) require some kind of reset to let the central locking work again?

Which wires on the connector could I test for current? No reason to think current used to flow OK but suddenly now doesn't.

Anything else I can check? Any help appreciated.
