HELP! US spec indicators on a 6N2

Afternoon guys, so these cruise lights (US spec indi's) are very appealing & I'm looking into wiring me some up.

I found a very very useful guide posted on VWvortex with pictures and all sorts, the only thing was it was on a Bora.
The guy swapped a yellow wire and a grey wire in the headlight plug unit thingy & I was just wondering if anyone on here has any idea how to do it on a 6N2?

Weather it's the same method but different colour wires or I have to actually snip & solder?
I've also heard using break light bulbs works as well if their obviously orange filmed indicators

Anyway, if anyone could give me a shout of the know how to do this it'd be highly appreciated!
