9N3 rear breaks

Post by Blue_9N3 »

Hi all,

First of all hello from a newbie :)

I have a 2005 1.4 9N3 which needs new rear breaks. There’s a few things I need to know:

Firstly, does it require discs and pads? I’m a bit confused as to weather it has drums or discs-it looks like it has a drum brake set up from the outside, but I’m not sure.
So does the 9N3 use inboard discs and pads?

Also, does the braking system differ between the 9N and 9N3 in anyway?
I need to check that before getting a workshop manuel for it.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum.

The 1.4 has drum brakes on the rear. Mechanically, there's very little difference between the 9N and the 9N3, so the Haynes manual for the 9N should be mostly sufficient.

...and Haynes don't do a manual specifically for the 9N3.

Cheers guys! Thanks for the welcome :)

That’s useful to know about the 9N3. I didn’t think there would be much difference but felt I should check.

All sorted now. Turns out all the drums needed was cleaning/lubing. All good now.
