Window seal replacement

Post by Flamin_Squirrel »

Hi all.

I'm looking for some advice on replacing a leaking window seal (photo below).

Image

I'm reasonable with a spanner (if this was something mechanical like an oil or disc change no problem) but bodywork isn't as obvious. I'm sure I'll be able to do it, if someone would be so kind as to indicate which panels etc need removing.

Many thanks.

Apologies, this should have ended up in the MkIV forum. Not sure why it's ended up here.

I don't mean to insult you're intelligence but water is supposed to run through the door and out the drain holes in the bottom, but if you are going to change it when you get the new one it will be come clear there is tabs on the back of the seal that hook in to holes just below the top of the door skin

Water isn't draining out the holes in the bottom of the door. It's getting trapped at the bottom of the door by the door seal (on the inside); when I open the door after it's rained the water escapes and my feed get wet. It's true I can't say 100% that the seal is the culprit, but this is the only door letting water in, and it also happens to be the only one where the seal has come away from the glass so far that it's easily visible. I doubt this is a coincidence.

At any rate I've already bought the seal, so I'd like to know how to change it. (And no, it doesn't become clear simply by having a replacement.)
