Polo Blue GT owners.

Post by phill_11 »

Hello to all! Just registered as I am coming out of a Golf 6 GTI to a Polo Blue GT. A few quick questions to current Blue GT owners or anyone who can answer really!
Does the MFD show the large mph display through the options or is this a vcds coding job (as the Golf was)?
Are all the black alcantara seats option fitted with heated front seats?
RCD310 head unit with DAB, not had this unit before, how does it compare to RCD510 in Golf?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

Yes it shows it. :)

And The Leather Alcantara seats are heatet.

You can fit the RCD510 in the Polo if your not happy with the 310.

Hi phill_11
Like yourself I have just traded down to a Blue GT from a 2009 Golf GTi (6). The alcantara seats option does include the heated seats, but I believe you lose the option of Bi-xenon and headlamp wash if you specify.

I have no idea how to achieve the large mph on the MFD. I would be interested to know how this can be done too.

The RCD 310 unit is very intuitive to use once you are used to it. All functions are menu driven from the buttons along the foot of the display. Personally I don't see the point of the RCD510 these days when you have USB/iPod connection capability. The onlu upgrade worth having would be the RNS315 with SatNav.

While I am on the thread of ICE. Does anyone else experience problems with their iPod restarting from track one each time the engine is turned off instead of resuming at the last played item? If so how can I resolve this?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think it shows the speed in KPH and you need to use VCDS to change the setting to Australian settings to get it to MPH.

Thanks for the replies, I guess eBay could be calling again reference the RCD510 should the fitted audio not be up to the task. On the Golf the kmh was shown as a small alternate display and once the coding was done, the mph was a large central display with other info above and below, hopefully the Polo will be like this straight out the box (so to speak).

Jammys right. VCDS change to Australia and also a change within the MFD display itself mate.

Yes you need to use VCDS, I have RCD510 as got it in my Mk6 GTI and I'd recommend the mfsw

Buying an ex-demo means I don't get to choose options sadly but I am less concerned due to the savings from buying new. I will definitely get the coding done for the speed display as I like this instantly visible display. The blue silk paint and alloys look good also, plus the alcantara option is already fitted. That's about the limit of extras as fitted to the version I have purchased, some upgrade bulbs and some exhaust trims will be purchased at some point in the future. Maybe a mfsw fit later if funds allow :!:

Of course, any Vcds folk in Stafford that would be willing to code the display then I would be extremely grateful! :!:

Fitting the MFSW to cars with the 'sporty' wheel is a bit easier than normal as you just replace the silver trim bits with a trim with buttons, no need to buy a new wheel, or, more importantly, airbag! Not sure if the regular BlueGT would have the wiring up into the steering wheel though which might be a bit trickier, but certainly cheaper than putting an MFSW into a regular Polo.

Sorry to drag up an old post but has anyone successfully added MPH large display using vcds? My trusty midland based vw independent specialist was unable to do this today and believes that the option is no longer available! Any help gladly received especially if you are local to Stafford and have the correct tools to do the job. A big thanks in advance :)
