Polo Blue GT - Aluminium Pedals

Post by Garfy »

I would like to have the pedals in my Blue GT to look like the aluminium type on the Polo R line. Naively, I thought simply buying aftermarket push on types as per the Audi A3 would do the trick. This is fine for the clutch and brake pedals, however the accelerator pedal does not have a removable cover and is a single piece.

Is it possible to buy the r-line accelerator pedal to fit the Blue GT? If so, what does it cost and how easy is it to change?

Any advice would be welcome. Thank you.

Hi Garfy,

I have a brand new VAG accelerator aluminum pedal (8N2 721 847 B). The dimensions of the pedal are exactly the same as the black accelerator pedal that's in my 1.2 TSI Polo.

Questions being; Does the BlueGT have the same dimension accelerator pedal as an SEL Polo? Do you know if your accelerator pedal removable? If you would like me to PM some photos across for more clarity let me know.

The part number you list is the same as the one I bought and doesn't fit, although the dimensions are exactly the same. This is because, as you say, the original pedal cover is not removable.

The accelerator pedal doesn't come off like the clutch and brake pedal, the aluminium one simply fits over the existing one. It's a tight fit but put the accelerator pedal in hot water for a few minutes before hand and it will glide on! :)

I'm pretty sure you may have the wrong part then! When I bought my set of pedals, I got four in total. 1 clutch, 1 brake and 2 throttle pedals. The Part Number, 8N2 721 847 B, is the one which didn't fit my Polo either. The other pedal is larger and fits over the top in the same style as the other pedals.

Thanks AJ
How much larger? Is it the same size as the GTi style?
