Need a part number please...

Post by Norbreck21a »

Hi guys,

Can anyone with a GTI that has Xenons (with the fairy light DRL's built in), and front fog lamps in the bumper, get me the part number for the light swich please. So that's, Xenons, DRL,s and front and rear fogs.

Reason I ask is that the wife's new Polo Blue GT has just arrived in the UK, and I did a deal with the dealer that he would throw in all the required parts in boot for the fog light retro fit (which sadly spec'ing Xenons on the Blue GT looses you), so that's the fog lights, grills and light switch. Trouble is I can't decide from ETKA which light switch part number I need (there are so many), and just want to make sure they give me the right parts.

If anyone in the know can confirm the numbers for the foglights and grills as well (which I think I know, but it would be a good check), that would be fantastic.

Many thanks.

The switch should be 6R0941531G APV which looks as per below assuming VW have wired the DRL's as DRL's:
Image

If VW haven't wired the DRL's up as DRL you'll need 6R0941531J APV which looks the same but is internally wired differently.

The easiest way to work out what you need to get the dealers to call up the PN present in your vehicle.
6R0941531F APV = 6R0941531G APV
6R0941531H APV = 6R0941531J APV (option code 910)

Are you sure the wiring from the BCM to the engine bay distribution panel is present? ETKA indicates the central harness is custom made for each vehicle configuration. If the wiring isn't present all I'll say is take a look at the BCM removal of said unit and splitting of said wiring plugs in half which whilst possible is incredibly difficult RHD cars have no tail on the wiring harness. You'll need agile fingers to release the plug from the it's by pulling back the two locking lugs and pressing the end through the visible holes. Don't tug it out by the end in case any internal wires come loose.

The fogs are 6R0941061F and 6R0941062F respectively for halogen with static cornering function but no day driving light. The trims 6R0853665D9B9 and 6R0853665D9B9.

Wow, fantastic post b0rk, many thanks.

In answer to your question, I'm not expecting the wiring to be present but when I come to wire them up, I'll probably get the Kufatec kit (Fog light wiring harness 38355).
