9n3 GTI 02R Gearbox questions

Hi,

I am usually in the 6N2 section on this forum but am currently embarking on the mission of making a 6n2 1.8t. I currently have a BAM engine but am trying to decide what gearbox to run. After doing quite a bit of research on various forums I have seen the 02R gearbox used and it all fits in with out having to notch the chassis at all.

Just wondering a few little things:

- How strong is the box in general? I am hoping to run about 300bhp? With some sort of LSD. Not sure if they are chocolate box's like our 6N2 GTI's?

- What sort of power are you guys running through them?

- What sort of clutch set ups are you running? I have read a lot of people using solid G60 fly wheels with VR6 clutches?

- I am not too sure on the actual size of this box in relation to the VW 02J and 02A box's? Not sure if anyone knows if they are similar case sizes?

- What is the best LSD to go for?

Hello mate

I am running 260hp in mine at the moment and it is on 60 odd thousand. It is starting ro have trouble lately selecting reverse and second gear on change down, but all the same i do think thet are a strong box. I have a vr6 paddle clutch kit in mine but make sure you dont buy the organic ones off ebay i havent heard good things about them.

Thanks for the help mate. Good to hear that they are strong. I understand that the same box's are used in the 1.4tdi's as well and on some skoda fabia VRS's.

Clutch set up sounds good. So your not suffering any slip either?
