Paint split

Post by polo1.9TDI SPORT »

Hi guys just a quick question really to see if anyone else has had this problem.
Ont eh drivers side where the a pillar joins the roof (corner of windscreen) i have a split in the paintwork?
Anyone seen or heard of this before, looks like it might be happening on both sides also?
Not only that but i have bubbling on the inside edges of bonnet also!

I have rang vw but they seem to be trying to put me off before i even start.

1 - well you have to be able to prove your car is serviced properly as in the manual.

Its paint work so why does that implicate on the management of the cars internals?

2- if you can prove the above with receipts then you would have to bring the car in for us to assess, take photos, send these off and then decide whether we can do anything under warranty or do a "good will gesture" .

A good will gesture, the car paint is split i don't think you could perforate it where it is.

So yeh i will get a pic up when in later, but if anyone has had this or seen it or had it fixed any help would be great!

Not sure if your registered on the Edition 38 forum, as there is a thread on there about VW 12 years corrosion warranty with peoples different experiences encoutered at various dealers.

Will be going into them next week for a little chat and rummage!

Reading the thread on Edition 38, the dealership in Shrewsbury sound like they are pretty good at honouring the warranty, maybe worth traveling that little bit extra to see if they are as good as folk say they are.

I really cant see anything from that pic tbh, theres general swirling on the piller and automatic car wash marring on the roof.

Previous owner probably has though.
1/2" vertical scratches all the way across.

Anyway you got better pics of this split paint?

Image

No car wash as i have owned since new, hoping it was just the light and dirt to be honest.

The pic is better, but doesn't show as well as real life- which is a pain, The split here does not look as big or as bad. looks like a hairline fracture but its an actual split.

Probably is dirt as well.

I wouldnt worry about it tbh, you can try touching it in very fine.
