HI All,
Anyone know the best place to get a new gearbox for 1.9tdi 100bhp 9n3 2006 facelift,
Plus a dual mass flywheel?
Been into garage today and they have had a look and said it is the gearbox - it will last from now until.....
(its a garage i trust also, not fobbing me off).
But i thought i would ask on here first in case i can get it cheaper!

Re: Gearbox
What are the symptoms?
Best option is probably a full rebuild, as for the clutch and flywheel anywhere like Eurocarparts or GSF, but the garage will most likely get you one from either of these places when they do the job

Re: Gearbox
Hey, thanks for he reply.
Symptoms . Vibration through clutch, slight grinding noises, slow to pull off from standing and a bi juddery. Occasionally goes half way into reverse, but that's rare.
Plus when the car is on the ramp there is a lot of noise from the box and some movement too.
Garage have literally said could be clutch and flywheel but they believe its gearbox related. But not 100% sure Neil it ones out. They checked the mounts too and they are all fine.
How much would a rebuild cost? Best get the flywheel and clutch changed at the same time.

Could very well be just the flywheel, but as you said there's no way of knowing until the box it out, then they will be able to see how much movement there is in the flywheel..As for the rebuild, I've no idea to be honest, sorry! You could bit the bullet and get a 2nd hand box

Re: Gearbox
Had a chat about the 2nd box too, but by the time ive paid for a new clutch and fly the 2nd hand box would probably give out on me lol!
So at the moment its kind of wait and see on rebuild costs.
Or pay em to get the lot out and see definitively what the problem is.

Well small update..... £700 for the rebuild of my gearbox, a place in Wolverhampton supposed to be very good??
New fly and clutch!!

So going in on 8th july see if the gear box is knackered and if so rebuilt, if not new fly!
