Management light on??

Post by Phile6802 »

Hi I have just bought bought a 9n3 gti turbo picking it up a week on sat been and had a look round and had a quick go in it it's got a turbo back de-cat power flow system on along with a few other things it pulls really well print out at 210bhp but I have been told of a guy with a another polo gti that the management light being on will confuse the car and affect the mpg??? What's the easiest way too get rid of the light for good? And is it worth doing? Any help will be much appreciated

Light could be on just because of the de-cat, the car still thinks there should be a cat and will just be getting confused. It will more than likely have an effect on the MPG as the car will think there is a cat and be running the car accordingly, the light maybe be able to be mapped out on a custom map, someone else will give you a definite answer on that

The light is there for a reason, don't guess why its there, scan it so you know.
Could be something major, something minor...

You can get it mapped out.

Yeh I'd be scanning to find out the exact cause just to be safe. Could be a number things such as DV not working correctly or any of the other valves on the engine.
If it is the de-cat causing it, that can be mapped out

Ok great has any one ever tried one of them lambda sensor foolers you can get on eBay by the the looks of it it just lifts the sensor out of the exhaust abit so it doesn't get as strong reading as the 1st one??

Yeah, pretty common, work for most people from what I read.

I understand that the code is likely to be from the exhaust, but if you don't know, why take the risk? Scan costs nothing if you can locate someone with Vag-Com or even one of the Android bluetooth scanners.

Lots of fun things to find out (like if you have a massive boost leak you otherwise would not know was there)
