Buying Gti 18T ?
Buying Gti 18T ?
Sorry i could not find anywhere to introduce myself, so i will start with a question i needed to ask, we already own a litre size Polo, which i have grown to love and drive, [something special] i have had a few performance cars, Integrale's, Evo's and a Sti Impreza [jdm] but i found this little car really nice to drive, so after speaking to the missus, i thought, why look elswhere, lets just get a another Polo, but raise the bar a little, so on Thursday we go to collect a Polo Gti T18 on a 06 plate and we where just wondering is there anything to ask the owner, or things to look for on the vehicle ? We did not get any help from another forum, so hoping for a little from anyone here folks, anything at all that may help with the purchase, thanks again, Daz.

Re: Buying Gti 18T ?
Ask if the cambelt has been done. Cost me 320 at a specialist, vw charge ~420
Gearbox synchro changing from 1st to 2nd can be dodgy apparently but I'm sure someone else will explain

not many issues to look for really other than gear change between 1 and 2 at highish revs.
Re: Buying Gti 18T ?

Re: Buying Gti 18T ?
Well we got it home after a long hot slog driving it back from London, it was owned by a elderly lady who had left the car to guy out if her street who had looked after the car for her whilst she was unwell, 06 GTI 41k on the clock, goes like stink, absolutely love that torque power,
it just makes you a better driver ha! anyway, quick pick more to follow after a trip to my detailer, may leave the engine for now, then give Revo a bell, speak soon folks, thanks for you help.
PS. The lady passed on in her 80's, later found out she was a petrolhead and seen photos of here doing the Monte Carlo Rallye in the 60's.
