Bonnet lifter development !

hi guys im looking to try and make a bonnet lifter for the my GTI wondering if anybody has any experience in doing this as i haven't a clue where to start.

if anybody could shed some light in this it would be much appreciated !

I think there's a few YouTube videos on various gas strut modifications, but could one not just be fitted from a high spec vag car? Or would that be too simple
