Type 19 mk2 jetta

Post by Ashcroft »

Hi there,
Here I have an early 1987 mk2 Jetta in polar silver.

I haven't had the car long but I'm not desperate to get rid, I'm only testing the water to see what offers I get :)

1987 mk2 Jetta
1.8 carbed
136k on the clock.
MOT till may 2014
TAX till july 2014
6 previous owners
most service history which i have looked through and for its age its been very well looked after over the years by a vw and audi specialist.
when I bought it the car had been sat up for 12 months but she started fine first time :)
soon as I bought it I sent it away to my local vw specialist for a full service and to have it checked over and I was surprised that everything was fine even after being sat up for so long!
the car drives like a dream and is great fun to drive even without power steering!
as i have not owned it long and it had been parked up for so long the car hasnt been abused at all, it has been driven with care to try to bring it back to life slowly
since owning the car I have thrown money at it to get it to a decent spec of my liking :)
I've lowered it around 90mm all round on brand new FK AK Street coilovers and it is sat on staggered 6s & 8s porsche D90s all with brilliant 195/45/16 tyres with lots of tread, 20mm adapters all round with good bolts! the wheels come with the rare and hard to find metal centre caps worth £100 aswell as the plastic ones, the plastic ones are on the wheels at the moment because 1 of the metal centre caps are not painted as was recently replaced from previous owner losing 1.
I have upgraded the front brakes to brand new GTI discs and pads with a spare set of green stuff pads for when these wear down.
I also have bought a brand new front bumper with the chrome trim around it as i was going to keep it retro as possible.

the bodywork isn't perfect! few dents and scratches here and there but it is 26 years old so for its age its pretty good!
Few tiny rust marks but all small surface rust and underneath is solid as a rock!

the car has the very rare early interior which is brown and looks really good and is surprisingly comfortable :)
interior is in pretty good condition apart from scratches on the centre console and door pulls, 2 tiny cracks in the drivers door card but not very big

the previous owner had some front fogs fitted so there are 2 new switches in the dash which i have not removed yet because I'm no electrician and dont fancy taking the dash out to play around with wires, the fogs have just been disconnected from the battery and the relays are still there so could easily be re-wired up if you wanted.

New old stock front bumper now fitted and looks sweet!
New DDS pressed plates fitted
And new CV joints fitted this week too :-)

car has been fitted with tow bar so the rear bumper is slightly bent which doesnt bother me because i was going to get a new bumper with the chrome strip to match the front and all the window surrounds.

i have tried to be as honest as possible and listed as much as i can.

if you have any questions feel free to ask and i will do my best to answer :)
viewings welcome :)
