quick head unit question

so i read up on the other topics in here relating to aftermarket headunit installation ive take a switched live from the cigarette lighter to the new aftermarket loom i got supplied with the new head unit but nw when i switch the ignition off i lose all the memory presets on the head unit.

Im guessing ive done something wrong but not sure what?

any help would be appreciated electrics aint my strong point.

You need to swap the permanent and ignition live wires on the head unit loom. Normally red and yellow

for instance mine was yellow wire for permanent live which now has the live from the cigarette lighter connected to it and the red was to red, what your saying is i should have the new permanent live into the red instead and then yellow to red connected together?

does that make sense?

Correct. Yellow to red. Red to yellow
