Re: Best Xenon style Halogen bulb.
5000k refers to the temperature (colour) and is nothing to do with how bright they are

Re: Best Xenon style Halogen bulb.
Gonna pick up these MTEC ones as I hate my yellow lights.
Is there are version of these bulbs that will fit the daylight/sidelight bulbs?

Yah I know what it refers to? 5000k is the brightest on the scale as its pure white.. as soon as you hit 8000k-12000k its dim.. and I'm saying from what I've found through changing my lights that 5000k bulbs generally give out more light than a yellowy 4300k bulb..

Re: Best Xenon style Halogen bulb.
God another question... Are these h7's the standard lights you use? Or the ones you only use in pitch black with no other cars around with the full beam.
Are the errors mentioned in this listing canbus errors? So you don't get any with the MTEC's?
Basically the OP and myself could buy these:

Re: Best Xenon style Halogen bulb.
I ordered them too haha. Coming tomorrow.
Hopefully much easier to get in that the 9N3 where you needed someone with the smallest hand in the universe to get in the passenger side sidelight.

Re: Best Xenon style Halogen bulb.
Ok pretty scared....
Read on a forum that the bulbs needed for the polo 6R are actually H4 and not H7 and have 3 prongs not 2.
On top of that it says you need to take off the actual headlight to access the dipped beam. What's up with that

Re: Best Xenon style Halogen bulb.
Your theory is correct - you would ideally need to remove the headlight as the Passenger bulb is closed in by the battery
Plus you have to get your hand right inside to remove the holder for the bulb.
Secondly, my light sequence goes - DRL's - Side's - Dipped beam.
The DRL's and Dipped share the same bulb.
I believe I have the Twin Headlight system as it says so in my manual.
Does anyone know what bulb the Dipped beam is? H4 or H7 as AutoBulbsDirect said my dipped beam is a H7, and full beam is H1, when actually the full beam is a H7.
Thirdly. MTEC's ROCK! So much better than the candles VW supply you with
and only £12

Re: Best Xenon style Halogen bulb.
Are the lights easy to get back on or will I need to go to a garage to get them realigned?
I think I found out how to tell whether you're h4 or h7!!! If your lamp has two bulbs close together in the bit of lamp closest to the grille then you're h7..... If you've just one then you're h4!
Can anyone who is taking their headlights out to change a bulb please do a wee guide with photos? The manual isn't clear and I have the bulbs but know ill balls up taking the headlight out and end up breaking it

Re: Best Xenon style Halogen bulb.
I managed to do it without removing the headlights. Very difficult but i managed it.
I have a large dipped beam bulb on the outer side of the headlight, which has a grille cover over the bulb, then on the innerside i have the full beam with side light inside that circle, then below i have the indicater.
I will give VW a ring later today and find out more.

Re: Best Xenon style Halogen bulb.
So I've done some digging around and found some information -
2009+ Polo's (it may be installed on previous models, can't confirm) come with a Single or Twin headlight system.
The Single headlight system have Dipped & Main sharing the same bulb, which is a H4.
The Twin headlight system use 2 H7's as one bulb is Dipped beam & DRL's, & the other takes care of the main beam.
VW was no use what so ever, the guy from the parts department had no clue what I was talking about. Ironic.
Auto Bulbs Direct was also wrong.
I will be getting a second set of H7's and will post pictures soon with a step by step.
Hope this helps or has cleared any confusion.

Re: Best Xenon style Halogen bulb.
I for one would definitly appreciate this. There seems to be no info anywhere online, other than foglights.
Cheers in advance for your efforts.

Re: Best Xenon style Halogen bulb.
Just fitted the bulbs. They are very easy once you get the hang of it.
Will need a spare pair of hands FYI.
Ordered more H7's for main beam & LED side lights.
Will take pictures and post up a step by step by the weekend.
