engine conversion help

looking at doing an engine conversion, i have a 1.0 8v engine at the moment and looking to either put in the 1.6 8v out of the 6n polo, or the 1.8 8v out of a mk3 golf, could anyone clarify whether these engines would fit using the origional loom or not? thankyou

As far as im aware, anything that isn't a 6n2 engine will require a loom rebuild to make it work with the clocks.
Even between 6n2 engines you'll most likely need the loom matching the engine, but not the interior loom as they are the same (on the engine side of things at least)
I'm sure some of the most expert members of the forum will clarify though!

oh okay thankyou, if i was to do a gti conversion id only need the engine loom? not the whole interior loom?

Yeah I'm pretty sure you'd only need engine loom, there are probably a few threads on this forum or clubpolo detailing a conversion; if not then just ask Alex Perkins who seems to know everything there is to know about these cars!
