Had to do an emergency stop the other day. Just setting off from a junction in auto DSG some nutter barreled around the corner far too fast and I had to slam the anchors on, otherwise he would have taken my front end with him. Queue lots of mechanical noises and a shudder almost as if the car did not want to stop.
I'm assuming this is either the DSG getting it's knickers in a twist expecting to change to 2nd and having to frantically find neutral or the ABS being a bit violent as it's driving fine now and no weird noises. Anyone else experienced this on a DSG. Mine's a GTI.
Clunk clunk shudder
Re: Clunk clunk shudder
Before reading the thread I guessed what this would be about from the title.
I have the same thing in my gti, but my Cupra did it as we'll.
It's just the DSG frantically trying to disengage, it happen when you prod the accelerator hard then have to jump back onto the brake. Doesn't sound very nice does it.

Yep had this a few times on my Gti. It's the abs system kicking in combined with what vedubber said above. Nothing to worry about mate.

Brilliant thanks chaps/chapesses, as I suspected but just thought I'd double check.
Coming from a 15 year old metro where the brakes weren't even servo assisted to this drive by wire car from the future, it takes a bit of getting used to
