Re: Polo Blue GT
Hi guys
First time poster.
Just ordered a blue gt but don't understand why (having picked the alcantara upholstery) I can't have xenon lights or the winter pack? Any ideas?
Really want the Xenon's but don't like the standard grey and blue interior. Can you change the lights?
Thanks for your help.

Re: Polo Blue GT
Some picks of the engine cover installation
Engine cover, bracket and screw
the two fixings on the slide slot into existing holes on the side of the engine, the rubber bung fits on the bracket

Bracket location
Removed existing nut using a short socket (12mm from memory) its a bit tight

bracket in position

Engine Cover
Best way of getting the cover on is locating the two plugs in the side carefully and then pushing down on the bracket so went from this

to this

only tweaks to the Blue GT so far are oem, bluetooth going in a couple of weeks, might treat it to some VWR springs in March

Looks great.
I should get mine in a day or two i hope.
I'm treating my BlueGT to some Eibach Pro Street S coilovers come springtime.

Re: Polo Blue GT
i don't think the chassis is good enough to warrant coil overs, i've got Bisltein B16s PSS10s on my 35 which are just epic

Re: Polo Blue GT
So what's the verdict on whether the cover makes any difference?
I'll be honest I had the bonnet up for the first time yesterday after reading everyone's complaints about the racket (as I can't hear it at all) and no soundproofing here. Still early doors for me I guess, and I've come from a Peugeot that had started to suffer from the "cold start death rattle" for the second time in 5 years...

Re: Polo Blue GT
When you order the alcantara seats you get heated front seats as standard hence not being able to order the winter pack.Polobluegtdsg wrote:Hi guys

You can retrofit xenon headlights which I think is a better option as ordering xenons loses the front fog lights.
Quite why VW don't allow xenon lights with the alcantara seats is a mystery to me too
Re: Polo Blue GT
engine noise has never bothered me, i wanted the cover to keep the top of the engine clean and tidy things up, for me car is quiet, perhaps too quiet but is fine for me, my GTI now has its stock exhaust back on it and that sounds like an aftermarket systemaniseedvan wrote:So what's the verdict on whether the cover makes any difference?

Oh heated seats come with the alcantara, that's a start then. Nobody at the dealer seemed able to confirm that.
Do you know where I'd be able to get the headlights retro-fitted. The dealer suggested that it wasn't possible so assume I may need to go outside.

Re: Polo Blue GT
I ordered my BlueGT with leather/alcantara and xenon headlights. But later got a call from the dealer aswell telling me it wasn't possible. So I choose to keep the xenonlights and loose the Leather/Alcantare seats because it's way to expensive to retrofit the xenonlights... You need automatic adjusters for the headlights fittet to both front and rear axle and wiring for that, the lights itself and new wiring out to those and have it all connected to the BCM...Polobluegtdsg wrote:Oh heated seats come with the alcantara, that's a start then. But I still have heatet seats even though I have the stock BlueGT interior.

Re: Polo Blue GT
Finally picked my BlueGT up today, I'm chuffed to bits with it. Took it on a little spin to the next town and the range only keeps going up!
So far I've managed to stall it twice, which I'm not proud of, but the anti-stall is definitely something I need to get used to. My only gripe (and it's minor) is that the doors don't seem to auto-lock when you pull away and for security reasons I would have liked that, but otherwise, it's a cracker and I adore it!
Auto wipers work well, especially considering it started raining pretty much as soon as I left the dealership - typical! Now I just need to figure out how to tune the DAB to Radio 1. It's full of local radio stations I never listen to!

Re: Polo Blue GT
Great news Faye, are you happy with the interior too? I agree with the auto wipers, they do seem to come on when necessary unlike other cars I've been in. I asked the dealership to activate auto-locks for me, so maybe give them a quick ring?

The interior is perfect, the blue speed cloth really works well IMO.jammydodger wrote:Great news Faye, are you happy with the interior too? I will give them a call to activate it - thanks for the tip!
