RCD 310/RCD 510 Remote for Amplifier

Hello, hoping someone here can help me out with this problem, so I've ordered an amplifier and subwoofer for my Polo. I have also ordered an RCD 510, however I'm still using the RCD 310 for now. Anyway I've spliced the rear speaker cables at the back of the head unit and connected an RCA adaptor for the amplifier. I've also connected the amplifier to the battery and connected the ground. The only issue I'm having at the moment is what to use for a remote cable and where and how I could find the right cable to use so that the amplifier powers up when the key is in the ignition or even just whenever there is power going to the head unit.

Any help with this would be really appreciated, I've tried searching online for a while now and cannot seem to find a definitive answer to this.

Also if the amplifier model will help its a JBL GTO-752e.

you can use the power output for the cdchanger..

its located on pin 4 in connector B in the quadlock connector..

So I finally finished this last night and managed to get it all wired in and working how I want it. I did use a speaker to RCA in the head unit so get the RCA cables and this works fine.

I used the cigarette lighter in the boot to get a remote signal, basically pulled it out and spliced the cable, this means that the Amplifier and the Sub only work when the ignition is on, which is exactly what I wanted.

I've also managed to wire it so that there are no visible wires in the interior so it all looks stock.

Here is a picture of the Sub, sorry they're not great took them this morning before work.

And a picture of the Amp - The amplifier is to big to be screwed onto the box so I'm still looking for a good place to mount it before I tidy up the cables in the boot.

And here is the RCD 510 that arrived this morning, this looks and works so much better than my old RCD 310 with and was a direct swap, so no messing with the amplifier etc, just works great!

If anybody would like any help with wiring anything in let me know and I'll try do my best to help, I'm no expert by any means however!

Hmm... wonder why I don't have a 12V socket in the boot of my BlueGT... Since it is one step above Highline... Hmm...

Can you post a picture where yours is located?

I have one too and mines just a bone standard SE model

Its behind the rear offside seat inside the top plastics (right hand side)

Hmm that's strange, this one is on my SE by the way but the SEL also has it. I'm currently at work, but its located in the top right corner near the light in the boot, I'll try post a picture later!

Does it sound as good as a sub on a aftermarket headunit?

Did you use the RCA converter from the headunit?? I heard people normally do it from the rear speakers so you dont have to chop your wires around the unit

Two of my friends have also installed subwoofers into their cars using aftermarket HU's with RCA's and I also heard before that the sound quality isn't as good when using a converter, but I cannot fault it at all, I guess it really depends how much of an upgrade you really want. I just wanted something bigger in the low end, so mines a 350w Subwoofer and a 220W amplifier I believe, both JBL. The Amp is fully turned down and the bass booster isn't even on, as well as the bass fully turned off the head unit and it's still a really strong sound, I did turn it up yesterday to see what it could do and again with no bass going through the door speakers the sound remains really good even at loud volumes with the subwoofer on quite loud.

Thats enough for me i guess thanks!...i just want more bass from the system...standard speakers are s**t!

How do these converters work? Is it quite easy to plug and play on a RCD510?

You have to splice the wires coming out of the head unit...Usually the Rear left and Rear right
you can then use these converters to plug in the plugs from the sub/amp
