Hi all,
I have a polo GTi lowered on bilstein B14 coilovers. A couple of months ago i started hearing a creaking/popping noise when turning the wheel at very slow speeds unto around 5mph.
My first thoughts were the top mounts/bearings, however the noise disappeared for around 3 weeks which made me believe it wasn't. Today the noise has returned so I'm just wondering what peoples thoughts may be? another idea i have had would be spring bind?
car only has 13k miles on it so i would hope the top mounts would not have d
failed already.
Thanks in advance
Creaking/Popping noise from coilovers
Re: Creaking/Popping noise from coilovers
Sounds like they are probably just coil bound. With all wet and s**t that has probably been thrown up over the winter so far.
Get under there and give them a good clean out and spray some lube around the top and bottom of the springs. This will help the spring move around on the plates as you as turning the steering wheel.

make sure the spring is properly seated in its groove, check your top mounts properly as it could cause it even if little worn
